JotKitewas initially developed by Mahesh Bhat, founder of Unnati Digi Services, for websites built for Unnati GeoRank clients.
The idea came from a simple observation.
Local business owners wanted to publish updates and articles, but they didn't want to learn a complicated CMS. They were already comfortable writing posts on popular social media platforms.
Professionals had a different preference. They were familiar with Microsoft Word, Google Docs and other document editors and wanted a similar, natural writing experience.
So instead of asking users to learn another complicated editor, JotKite was designed around the way people already write.

JotKite can take content from the tools you already use, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Google Docs
- WordPress Gutenberg
- Notion
- Web pages
- Markdown editors
- AI chatbots and AI writing tools
It is designed to preserve the important structure of your content while keeping the resulting HTML clean.
Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, lists, links, tables, images and videos can be carried across without forcing you to rebuild the article inside another editor.
It also works naturally with content created using popular AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, Perplexity and DeepSeek.
The goal isn't to make you learn JotKite.
The goal is to let you keep writing the way you already know.

JotKite also supports a simple role-based publishing workflow for teams.
Different people can have different responsibilities:
Contributor → Editor → Admin
A Contributor can create and submit content.
An Editor can review, edit and prepare submitted content for publication.
An Admin has final publishing control and manages the overall publishing environment.
This creates a straightforward review process without making content publishing unnecessarily complicated.
It works particularly well when several people contribute to a business blog, professional website, organization or publication.
Everyone can write. The right person decides what gets published.
Built for websites, not just blogs
For Unnati GeoRank websites, JotKite can inherit the visual style of the parent website. This means a blog can be added to an existing website without making it look like a separate platform.
For example:
sitename.com/blog
The blog can follow the website's existing design language, typography and layout rather than looking like an unrelated third-party platform.
For other websites, JotKite can be deployed in different ways depending on the setup:
sitename.com
sitename.com/blog
or
blog.sitename.com
This makes JotKite useful not only for GeoRank websites, but also as a lightweight standalone blogging solution.
Simple for business owners. Flexible for professionals.
A local business owner shouldn't need to understand databases, blocks, templates or complicated publishing workflows just to write a 300-word update.
At the same time, a professional writer shouldn't feel restricted by a basic social-media-style text box.
JotKite sits somewhere in between.

The project is available on GitHub, allowing developers and website owners to examine the project, use it within the terms of the license and contribute to its development.
